Where to buy plants in Forest Hills area, Queens?

Hi. I recently moved to Forrest Hills, Queens, NY from faaar away. Where in this area would i be able to find a good (and cheap) place to buy (potted) plants, little shrubs etc for indoor use. Ie, not a fancy florist where to buy cut flowers, but rather some plant nursery style shop.
Thanks!!!

Lowes and Home depot are always cheap places to get houseplants.
Here are the Lowes near you.

Then you could try these local nurseries.

A lawyer sues her florist.. Read and tell me your ...

Elana Elbogen, a litigator at Kelley Drye in New York, married David Glatt at Cipriani 42nd St. this summer. She wasn’t happy with the floral arrangements. So she sued.

In a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed Friday against Posy Floral Design Studios in New York state court, Elbogen alleges that the florist substituted pastel pink and green hydrangeas for the dark rust and green hydrangeas that she had specified for the centerpieces. Other issues, says the lawsuit: “using wilted and/or browned flowers, leaving the event without filling half the centerpiece vases with water, and using dusty and dirty vases.” Here are stories from the NYT and NY Post.

“The use of predominantly pastel centerpieces had a significant impact on the look of the room and was entirely inconsistent with the vision the plaintiffs had bargained for,” says the lawsuit, according to the Times. They paid in advance for the flowers, which cost — yikes! — $27,435.14. After the wedding, they asked for a $4,000 refund. Now, they’re asking for $400,000 in damages.

If you pay that much for the flowers at your wedding you deserve to get what you asked for. If what she says is true, and if she did ask for just $4000 back and the florist refused to consider it, well… A wedding is really important and wilted and brown flowers in the wrong colours would be very upsetting. And sometimes you have to ask for more than you really want just to get what you deserve. I hate that people now days tend to sue at the drop of a hat, but if someone won’t negotiate and they are in the wrong, what other choice is there. Role over and play dead? Let people walk all over you? The florist contracted to perform a service and did not live up to her end of the deal.

The Florist’s MIstake?

A new business was opening and one of the owner’s friends wanted to send flowers for the occasion. They arrived at the new business site and the owner read the card; it said "Rest in Peace."

The owner was angry and called the florist to complain. After he had told the florist of the obvious mistake and how angry he was, the florist said. "Sir, I’m really sorry for the mistake, but rather than getting angry you should imagine this: somewhere there is a funeral taking place today, and they have flowers with a note saying, "Congratulations on your new location".

A blonde and a lawyer are seated next to each other on a flight from LA to NY. The lawyer asks if she would like to play a game. The blonde, who’s tired and just wants to take a nap, politely declines and rolls over to the window to catch a few winks. The lawyer persists and says the game is easy and a lot of fun. He explains, "I ask you a question, and if you don’t know the answer, you pay me $5.00, and vice versa." Again, she declines and tries to get some sleep. The lawyer, now agitated, says, "Okay, if you don’t know the answer you pay me $5.00, and if I don’t know the answer, I will pay you $500.00." This catches the blonde’s attention; and figuring there will be no end to this torment unless she plays, she agrees to the game.

The lawyer asks the first question: "What’s the distance from the earth to the moon?" The blonde doesn’t say a word, reaches into her purse, pulls out a $5.00 bill, and hands it to the lawyer. "Okay," says the lawyer, "it’s your turn."

She asks the lawyer, "What goes up a hill with three legs but comes down with four legs?"

The lawyer, puzzled, takes out his laptop computer and searches all his references–no answer. He taps into the airphone with his modem and searches the Net and the Library of Congress–no answer. Frustrated, he sends e-mails to all his friends and coworkers, to no avail. After an hour, he wakes the blonde and hands her $500.

The blonde says "Thank you" and turns back to get some more sleep.

The lawyer, who is more than a little miffed, wakes the blonde and asks, "Well, what’s the answer?"

Without a word, the blonde reaches into her purse, hands the lawyer $5.00, and goes back to sleep.
I think the 2nd on proves that blonds are smart enough to trick a lawyer!!!!

HAHAH!!! im gonna try that

How can I clean the tank, so I can use it for anot...

I found a tree frog at work about a year ago. It came from Florida (traveled to NY in plants for the florist I work at). My boss was gunna let it outside, but it was freezing here. I said, let me take it home. I bought a tank and everything…It died about a month or so after I found it. I want a turtle. HOW can I clean the tank so there is no frog germs??
I have a pretty big tank. I got one of the biggest they sold. I did it so I could hang the tree for the frog.

Frogs and turtles are very similar so you shouldnt have an issue with germs unless there was a specific disease that casued the frog to die, which is highly unlikely because i have had frogs before and often they die of old age(they dont live long) or after a lot of shock they dont live ong after that (which is probably what happened to ures). the best way to clean it is use any basic soap with lots of water, then rinse well several times. after **this is the important part** use AQUAPLUS with water and rinse again well. this solution clears any toxins (to the animals) that were used (soap) to fully clean the tank. Hope that helps!!

Work for 15 year olds?

In NY, most jobs hire at 16.
being only 15 and going on a cruise for my sweet 16 i would like to raise some money for spending..

I’m looking for a serious job, not like raking lawns or anything.

i understand some bagel shops and deli’s hire at 15, but they do most buisiness on early morning weekends, where i have soccer games.

any one know any ideas like florists or anything which usually hire at 15+?

Cleaning, kitchenwork, packing, running errands, gardening, babysitting, newspaper delivery are some of the jobs available. These jobs will be posted in local newspapers and billboards.
A better option is to work from home on your computer – write articles, sell on eBay, make a website, take surveys. In some cases, you may have to set up an account in your parents or guardians name, and ask them to pay you, after they get the money for your work.
