anyone make their own wedding flowers?

I live in New York City, any suggestions for a florist or where i can buy my own flowers and make them. I already checked the phonebook, im looking for personal experience….
Thanks for the answers… Imara, I checked the wholesales places downtown already, and most of them you need a tax ID to buy.

Agreeing with the post above about the grocery store, but living in NY City there should be local flower marts/markets that sell beautiful flowers sometimes at discounted prices. I’m sorry if I don’t have exact names. What about upstate NY with nursery.

Try these places, Astoria Flower Mart, http://ftdfloristsonline.com/astoriaflowermart/?source=header

or Harrison Flower Mart, http://www.harrisonflowermart.com/

However, Harrison does seem more like a florist shop. I couldn’t quite tell.

Edited b/c I found this link, http://www.fmanyc.org/members-cutflowerwholesalers.htm

They have a list of wholesale flower markets. Try to check those places out. You can find your own flowers and buy wholesale.

Good Luck!

I used to go to Pennock’s for flowers (in NJ) and they have a place in Plainview, NY. (http://www.pennock.com/) They were always great and have decent prices. I have never had to have a TIN to go there.

Lately I’ve been ordering online for conveniece since Pennock’s moved to Philly. I use Grower’s Box most often withj fabulous results: http://www.growersbox.com

    Good luck!
