On your next visit to your florist in NYC, ask to see their selection of peonies.

Surprisingly enough there many people who still shy away from this wonderful flower. I, on my part, try to introduce people to flowers they might have seen, but never purchased. Peonies is one of those flowers that once I encourage a client to deviate from his usual “bouquet of roses for girlfriend,” and instead take a bouquet of peonies, he always come back for more.

NYC city florists are lucky because most imported flowers from Holland first land in one of New York’s airports. This fact alone allows florist to pay less for imported flowers and thus pass the saving on to their clients.

If you happen to live in NYC, it will be a good idea to know what flowers are in season at any particular time of the year.

Just because your New York florist has a huge selection of flowers at any given time, that does not mean that all those flowers you see are in season. In fact – many of them are there because your florist paid higher prices for them just so he or she can have a larger selection in the store.

Flowers that are there, but not are in their natural season cost way much more than flowers that are in season and, therefore, abundant.

This holds true to all flowers, but especially to the peony; while a stem of a good quality Peony can cost $2 – $4 in season, that price can triple when out of season.

If you have not done so before, try to purchase peonies in the season (April to June). You will love to watch how this tight ball opens into a huge flower that resembles a jumbo rose, but with petals that are silky and way much more delicate.

Image via Wikipedia

Here are some interesting facts about Peonies.

Name: Peonies
Native to: Asian, Southern Europe and Western North America
Availability – April through June
Longevity – Seasonal (may last from April till June).
Dries well – Yes!
Varieties – The Bartzella, Blaze and Border Charm make up the over 230 varieties of peonies.

Handling and Care - Peonies should be fed a half a cup of low nitrogen fertilizer when growth researches 2 or 3 inches high. For gardeners and planet owners, peonies need little care and survive in warmer climates with direct sun. Water frequently (at least once per day) during the springtime or allow for it to sit outside and collect rainwater. Additionally, cut the stems as close to the root of the plant as possible to avoid disease left by rotting plants.
Fun Facts – Peonies were originally cultivated in China over 2,000 years ago, living through harsh winters. The Chinese used the roots for food and medicine purposes. In fact, the Chinese do not consider a peony just a peony; rather, they call it the Flower Fairy after being named the national flower of China during the Qing Dynasty in 1903

Peony is a delicate flower and requires special conditions for optimal self life. Purchasing peonies from a street vendor, especially when you do not know what to look for, is not a good idea. Therefore, your better option is to walk into your favorite florist in NYC for you peonies between April and June.

Image via Wikipedia

If you’re hosting a family thanksgiving, you want to create a fun family environment that helps children understand the importance of thankfulness and reminds the adults of this as well.

Since Thanksgiving comes just before what many refer to as the “greedy” season, activities designed to remind people of the bounty in their lives are useful. For example, you might help children understand that while they don’t have everything they want, they do have everything they need.

How do you do this? Several ways. One is to help children create a cornucopia, which will sit on the Thanksgiving table. There are a variety of ways to do this. You can make a papier-mâché cornucopia using a balloon as the base to help you get the shape started. You can simply take large piece of poster board and shape them into a cone and fill those with whatever you like. As an extra activity, you can have the children decorate the cornucopia before it gets filled.

Since the idea of the cornucopia is to celebrate a bounty and appreciate that bounty, you can fill it as is traditionally done with squash, corn and the like. You might also ask each member of the

family to bring something that represents their personal bounty in life. A new mom might bring a baby blanket to put in the cornucopia while a newly retired grandpa might add a picture of his family, since that’s what’s most important to him. You can discuss the items in the cornucopia basket at the dinner table while enjoying your Thanksgiving feast.

Another family activity that kids like is the thankfulness jar. When each person arrives at dinner, they place a note with something they are thankful for in the jar. Ideally, each person will add more than one item to the jar. At dinner, someone (ideally, the matriarch of patriarch of the family) reads the notes. Everyone tries to figure out who wrote which note. The items can range from the serious (someone who struggled with an illness in the previous year might be thankful for life, quite simply) to the silly (the new mom might be thankful there’s a Starbucks within 5 minutes of her home). Kids enjoy adding their own touches to the thankfulness jar and their responses are often a surprise to the adult family members.

Some families have several tables set about at Thanksgiving. Many people buy professional floral arrangements to decorate the tables. You can make a game out of it to figure out who’s going to get to bring home the table arrangement to their home. You can do the old wedding thing and simply put a number on the bottom of the centerpiece and have someone’s chair match that number or you can make a game and perhaps create a trivia game out of Thanksgiving facts. For example, questions might look like this:
*How many turkeys are cooked on Thanksgiving throughout the US?
*Why are turkeys called turkeys?
*Which president set aside the last Thursday in November as Thanksgiving?

Be sure you research and know the answers and then quiz everyone. This is a great way to pass the time while everyone is waiting for the feast to be ready. Just tell the winners they can’t take the centerpieces until dinner is over!
You can have a similar game before dessert. Create a family trivia game and quiz family members before dessert. Only the people who get the answers right get to have their dessert. Everyone else has to keep trying until they get their trivia question right. Questions can range from the silly to the sublime. They might look something like this:
*Who got popcorn stuck in her braces at 12?
*Which man here wore boots with big holes in them until he was 20 and could buy his own?
*Whose grandparents immigrated to the US from Ireland?
*Which boy here got suspended from school for riding his bike into the classroom?

Top Tips To Make The Day Perfect" width="300" height="199" />Weddings are a special day in the life of the bride and groom, as it joins the two together. These suggestions by Heather Floral in NYC

Image via Wikipedia

will help that day to run smoothly, for all parties concerned. By planning efficiently, the day will be remembered as a source of joy by everyone for years to come.

TIP! For a summer-themed wedding cake try using a warm color scheme. Mix bold colors like fuschia and orange with white icing for some eye-catching “pops” of color.

Consider using fake flowers for your wedding. This saves a lot of money and most people will not be able to tell that they aren’t real. If you are crafty, you can put together the arrangement yourself in advance of your big day. You can also spray a floral scent on the bouquet if you want the flowers to smell fresh.

Research what flowers, fruits and vegetables are in season. By choosing the right products at the right time, you will save a significant amount of money on your wedding. The flowers will be more vibrant and the food will also taste better if you carefully plan what you are going to buy.

TIP! Make your own table decorations and centerpieces for your wedding to help you save money. Consider creating these items in filled hurricane jars and use handmade paper or felt flowers, strings of simple white lights, inexpensive tea lights, or ingredients from nature like twigs, branches, leaves and wildflowers.

Help yourself plan for your wedding by going further with your plan and sketching it out. You don’t have to be a great artist to quickly sketch any ideas that you have. This also provides a clearer “picture” than words do in regards to how certain things should look and feel.

When you have eight to nine months left before your wedding, you need to select your wedding dress and book your reception site. Also at this point, it would be helpful to have your photographer booked and a create a tentative list of the guests you plan on inviting. Taking care of these things will make the next few months go much easier.

TIP! Think about having a holiday wedding. You can save a significant amount of money if you get married in late November or December.

Let bridesmaids choose their own dresses. Instead of forcing a certain dress on different body types, dictate the color and leave the rest for them to do. If you want, you can also have veto power over the dress they choose. Giving bridesmaids freedom to choose their own dresses means less money and grief for you.

Image via Wikipedia

Be sure that you schedule at least ninety minutes to get ready for the ceremony. This will give you ample time to make sure that you look your best and make it easier to capture those moments with the camera. You do not want to rush this process on your big day.

TIP! Research what flowers, fruits and vegetables are in season. By choosing the right products at the right time, you will save a significant amount of money on your wedding.

A good piece of advice to keep in mind for weddings is to make sure that you choose a location that is both unique and special to you. This is important because you want your wedding to be remembered by others and also have your own special flavor added to it.

Heather Floral suggests you should start planning your wedding at least a year in advance. Many venues and photographers are booked out 12 to 18 months and require deposits to hold a date for you. Even if you aren’t engaged, it might be a good idea to start thinking about your potential dates and venues before hand.

By implementing these suggestions, the wedding is sure to be a spectacular event that pleases everyone. This special day of bonding is worth taking the time to ensure that every detail is taken care of in the best manner. The bride and groom deserve to have the wedding of their dreams.

coffee shops are very lucrative. long as you dont overcharge, have a medium-sized manageable menu (somewhere between dunkin donuts coffee selection and starbucks unrealistic one) then you’ll do great. initial investment is killer though. those machines are expensive. if you start off with one espresso machine, one latte product, three kinds of milk and three kinds of bean, you’ll do great.

Ok so I’ve been killing myself trying to come up with a good birthday gift for my girlfriend of 5 1/2 years. I’ve always had some sort of creative gifts for her for christmas, valentines day, birthday etc. I’m simply out of ideas. Last year I took her to New York City for three days to watch a Yankees game and to spend time in New York because she’s always wanted to. This year, however, I am no longer working and have a lot less money. (We’re both seniors in college, she’s going to Physical Therapy school next year and I’ll be going to law school, I’ve worked my entire way through school but decided to take my last semester off so I can spend more time with her and enjoy my last semester in school) Anyways this is what I was thinking about doing.

She will be in florida opening her softball season on her birthday. I was thinking about calling a florist in the area, and having them deliver a dozen of her favorite flowers (lillys) of various colors with a little message on it for her. Also, I was going to make a card and give it to her mom, who will be going to florida with the team, and have her give it to her on her birthday. When she gets back I plan to give her two tickets to a country music concert that I’ve been talking about with a bunch of our friends who are going to go with us as well.

what do you all think about this. Keep in mind, I have very limited funds, and going to florida is out of the question because I will be going to the beach with my grandma the same week (which has been planned for a while). If you have any suggestions that could make it any better that’d be greatly appreciated!
to clarify the yankees game gift, She’s a HUGE Derek Jeter fan so that was the reason we went. I don’t even like the yankees so it was not one of those, well I’ll give this to you as a bday gift so i can watch baseball…lol…I actually hate baseball…I’m def a football fanatic…lol just wanted to clarify that.

It’s Perfect!

Who will pay for the underprivileged when all we are is peasants waiting for the bread line to open. And dont forget, its not just the income tax from the company that we loose but also all the jobs that were lost and those taxes as well. Maybe Mccain had a point after all.

Not very long. We could bring them all back home AND $12 trillion in offshore accounts with the FairTax Act. H.R. 25

For those who don’t know about the FairTax, a little background:
The FairTax Plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax on new items only, a rebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue replacement, and, through companion legislation, repeal of the 16th Amendment. This nonpartisan legislation (HR 25/S 1025) abolishes all federal personal, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, self-employment, and corporate taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax – collected by existing state sales tax authorities. The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend, not on what we earn. It does not raise any more or less revenue; it is designed to be revenue neutral. The FairTax is a fair, efficient, transparent, and intelligent solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system. More details can be found at www.fairtax.org
The income tax equation is income- taxes-compliance dollars = spending
The Fair Tax equation is income = spending + taxes+ compliance dollars, so here we are taxed as we spend and keep the compliance costs

I think West 49 would be the best place because they do have a variety of jackets. Also, there’s a donation for jackets, if you don’t want your old one, you can donate it and get 30% off. Your old jacket goes to unfortunate kids that can’t afford jackets for the winter.

don’t report or i’ll be a sad panda

1. You just got married to the love of your life named ________. What flowers were used at your wedding? And where was the wedding?

2. Before you go on your honeymoon you find out you are pregnant and have to be on bed rest cause you are having twins! 9 months later you give birth to a boy and girl. The first names can be anything you want, the boys middle name has to do with the place you got married, the girls middle name is the flower you used at your wedding.

3. A year later you finally get to go on that honeymoon, you leave your kids in the care of your mother who’s named ________. Where do you go on the honeymoon? Well guess what you come home and find out you are pregnant again, with yet another set of twins! They are two girls this time. One girls name starts with V, one girls starts with A. One middle name is your mothers or similar, and the other middle name has to do with the place you went to on the honeymoon. What are the names?

4. Four years later the youngest twins are in preschool, the oldest in kindergarten and you have become super mom. You really miss having a baby but just one instead of twins. You decide to adopt a little 5 year old boy with the first name Brandon. He has no middle name and wants you to choose one from a childrens book. What name do you choose?

6. Around the same time you get the pet you find you are pregnant again! You are anticipating twins but it is one girl. You can tell she is going to be a girly girl, give her a very feminine first name and an old fashioned/classic middle name.

Optional: The kids are all grown up now

Your boy twin has a sucessful job as a ________ and is married with two boys named:

Maybe not all of the names together, but do you like them seperately?

1. You are a starving broke artist living in the middle of nowhere, your name is Gwen and you are dating Adam. You own a very tiny gallery and are barely getting by. One day at work you feel sick, and find out it’s cause you’re pregnant! You decide to keep him. It is going to be a boy, his first name should be of an artist, middle name must be a color.

2. A month before your boy is born you get a break! An art agent sees your work and offers to move you and your family to New York! There you make a fortune off your new gallery. The baby is born and everything is going smoothly. Adam proposes, and you quickly elope. Describe the wedding, big or small, colors, cake etc.

3. You leave your son with a family friend and go to a rural countryside destination, it can be anywhere, where do you go? When you come back you are expecting twins! It is going to be two girls! You want one first name to be after a big city or crowded state (like NY, Paris), and one first name to be after a more rural area with less people (like Lousiana, or a city, country anything), boys middle name should be after your grandpa, girls after your grandma.

4. Your oldest 5 is, and the twins are 4. Your gallery is still thriving and gaining popularity. You start basing your art off different elements, during your sucess you find out you are expecting again. This time quads! You can’t believe it! You want to base their names off the four elements. (Fire, Earth, Air, Water). They have to mean those things or have to do with them. Two girls and two boys, middle names anyhting you want.

5. 5 years later the oldest boy is 10, twins are 9 and quads are 5. With 7 kids you’ve definitely had your hands full but it’s been fun! You started designing clothes now and thats also been a sucess. But you accidentally wind up preganant again! Just one this time thank goodness, a girl. Her first name is after a fashion designer middle name after a fabric.

This part is optional:

6. Oldest boy- He’s become an astronomer, he is married with a boy and girl both named after constellations, what are their name ( you can just do first names)

Twin named after city: Of course this one has ended up a city boy/girl. They become architects and love designing sky scrapers. They are married with one son named after a famous building.

Twin named after country: Married but no kids yet, they’ve bought a male horse and a cow, what did they name them?

Quad boy 1- What does he do for a living? He has two girls, name them anything you want.

Quad boy 2- Has become a professional athlete in the sport of ______. He has one daughter, she is named after an athlete what is it?

Quad girl 3: She has become a florist and is married with 3 girls all named after flowers. Whats their names?

Quad girl 4: She is studying to become a _________ and she has a serious boyfriend named___________.

Hope you had fun!

^ What is so confusing??? geez

And I just like Giselle

1. Leonardo Blue

2. Pink and gold colors, medium wedding on the beach, 3 tiered black and white cake with roses

3. Deleware Howard, Paris Eve

4. Keegan Maxwell (boy means fire, Tierra Sade (girl, means earth), Skylar Corrine (girl, has to do with air), Kai Derek (boy means water)

5. Monique Silke (Monique Lullier)

This part is optional:

6. Orion and Lyra

Empire

Peter and Bessy

He’s a forest ranger, two girls are Hallie and Isabel

Hockey, Christina (Yamguchi)

Linnea, Holly, Acacia

Nurse, Miles

FUN FUN FUN MAKE MORE
