I found a tree frog at work about a year ago. It came from Florida (traveled to NY in plants for the florist I work at). My boss was gunna let it outside, but it was freezing here. I said, let me take it home. I bought a tank and everything…It died about a month or so after I found it. I want a turtle. HOW can I clean the tank so there is no frog germs??
I have a pretty big tank. I got one of the biggest they sold. I did it so I could hang the tree for the frog.
Frogs and turtles are very similar so you shouldnt have an issue with germs unless there was a specific disease that casued the frog to die, which is highly unlikely because i have had frogs before and often they die of old age(they dont live long) or after a lot of shock they dont live ong after that (which is probably what happened to ures). the best way to clean it is use any basic soap with lots of water, then rinse well several times. after **this is the important part** use AQUAPLUS with water and rinse again well. this solution clears any toxins (to the animals) that were used (soap) to fully clean the tank. Hope that helps!!
great question.. ilove these it shows youre really conscience about the care good for you!
ok use 1/2 cup of bleach to 1/2 gal of water soak the tank then allow to air dry, after it is dry do it again. then allow to air dry-\
rinse out until you no longer smell the bleach then air dry agian
this will clean it and have it ready
\
rest assured i do this to several cages daily.

Turtles need huge cages. A cage that was used for a frog isn’t gonna work. Check this out http://redearslider.com/index.html

Best way to ensure the removal of all frog germs is to use a solution of 1 part bleach to 16 parts water. Scrub the tank clean really well, and then let it dry out for a minimum of 48 hours as to make sure all the bleach toxins are out of the tank then you should be good to go.
